Aphrodite Nostalgie

Aphrodite is presented in a limited series of Collectors' portraits. Each piece bears witness to a metamorphosis, offering an emotional vision of this timeless icon. Rachel Convers' Les états d'âmes d'Aphrodite is divided into three sections: Nostalgia, Renaissance and Reverie.

A Sculptural Metamorphosis

The starting point for each painting is the sculpture of Aphrodite. It stands like an imposing stele, taking on a monumental dimension, like the divinities themselves.

The raw materiality of the stone shines through, with its chiselling marks and carvings bearing witness to a journey through the centuries. The eroded chin and altered nose bear witness to the inexorable effects of time.

An art shaped by dualities

From the outset, the viewer is struck by the subtle duality between the frozen immobility of the sculpture and the captured vitality, where emotion is expressed through an ephemeral, fleeting state. The temporalities of stone and emotion are in opposition, creating a dichotomy between the permanent and the ephemeral.

Aphrodite, a figure both celestial and earthly, embodies a suspended divinity. Crowned by a cloud from which rain gently drifts away, she appears serene and at peace.

Though her stone face bears the marks of time, her closed eyelids and long lashes reveal a calm inner world. A sprig of myrtle, the ancient symbol of love, rests atop her head like a subtle crown. The work captures a poetic tension between the frozen marble and the fleeting trace of an inner storm, enveloped in an atmosphere heavy with nostalgia.

Produced in a limited edition, the portrait Aphrodite Nostalgie is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the artist Rachel Convers.

The image is printed directly onto a Dibond aluminum panel, a material that is both rigid and lightweight, known for its strength and resistance to moisture. The solid laminate frame enhances the piece, ensuring lasting durability.

Each piece is designed, assembled, and finished by hand in France at our workshop in Fontain (25).

The Aphrodite Nostalgie portrait comes ready to hang, with a discreet wall-mounting system included. Its Dibond aluminum backing protects it from temperature fluctuations and humidity, ensuring lasting durability over time.

Easy to maintain, a soft, dry cloth is all that’s needed to preserve the delicate details.
